Who Are We?- Community Opportunity is a non-profit organisation that works in Malawi, but is based at the University of Sussex under SIFE UK*. We aim to empower young people in Malawi to generate a sustainable income and a brighter future for themselves.

How? - By working with our partner organisation, Samalani Orphan Care and Youth Organisation (SOCAYO), a Community Based Organisation (CBO) in Malawi, we provide education, tools, skills training and other resources in order to reach this goal.

Where Are We Now? - We have trained 40 youths in either carpentry, tailoring or knitting, as well as business skills. We have recently opened a cooperative shop in which the youths can earn a steady wage and sell their crafts. The profits from the shop feed back into our partner organisation SOCAYO to fund their orphan feeding, nursery and primary education, HIV/AIDS awareness, elderly and psycho-social support, youth and recreational programmes.
